My name is Kamilla de Oliveira, founder and director of IVET Services (International Veterinary Services).
I am a Veterinary Surgeon, who graduated from the Catholic University in Parana, Brazil, and at the University of Pisa, both in Veterinary Medicine.
I have also obtained an MSc in Food and Safety and Quality at Parma University.
I emigrated from Brazil in 2005 and lived and worked in Italy for a few years, and after that I moved to London, United Kingdom (UK) where I practice.
My main areas of interest are Small Animal Medicine and Surgery, Animal Welfare and Charity Work/Shelter Medicine.
I am an Official Veterinary (OV) and I perform statutory veterinary work for the UK. The main area of work as an OV is with regards to some of the certifications required for pet travelling (EU/ third country), and I can also help with some certification for products of animal origin if needed.
Currently I also work at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) in North London, which is a very rewarding job as I help the sick or injured owned and stray animals at a busy veterinary hospital.
My love of animals started when I was a child: I was always in contact with animals growing up, then started my career working in an animal charity in my home town and also gained experience in a poultry industry in south Brazil.
While on my travels, I have noticed the variations in care and standards in differents countries regarding pets, and the high standards of animal welfare in the UK brought me to London and made me stay.
I have also observed the difficulties experienced by pet owners from different countries when abroad in understanding and adapting to particular requirements, law and care obligations (and also there may be some language barriers when dealing with issues related to their pets).
With all this in mind I started the IVET Services with the aim to help with all such issues experienced by pet owners in the UK, and ultimately to improve animal welfare (I have a number of ongoing projects at the moment, in particular relating to the treatment of animals in Brazil)
I am a fluent speaker of Portuguese, Italian and English (with some basic understanding of French and Spanish) and a devoted owner of my own white domestic short haired rescue cat, Olly.
